What To Do In Pantai Cenang – Langkawi, Malaysia

9l1

Located on the western coastal, Penang Cenang is the most developed area and the main tourism hub of Langkawi. Being the busiest beach town on the island, Pantai Cenang has a diverse mix of restaurants and cafes, massage and spas, duty-free outlets and knick-knacks shops along its picturesque beach strip.

Besides the prominent Langkawi Underwater World, Pantai Cenang doesn’t have many attractions, save for its long stretch of beautiful white sandy beach with coconut and casuarina trees on its fringe. You’ll find kiosks along the beach offering jet skiing, banana boating, parasailing and island hopping boat tours.

After a long day of exploring the island, the bustling Pantai Cenang is the ideal setting for a sunset dinner by the beach. Dining at the beachfront restaurants would be accompanied by magnificent views of the Andaman Sea and Gunung Mat Cincang.

The scene in Pantai Cenang after sunset is the liveliest on Langkawi Island, with many beachfront bars and lounges offering inexpensive alcohols with live music and cultural performances until late. You can also unwind on a hammock or beanbag on the beach, catch the latest match on LCD screens or strike up a conversation with fellow tourists or locals.

Tips: You can also admire the sunset from the roof of Pantai Cenang’s tallest building. Visit Nest Rooftop, a chillout and dining venue, at the top of Royal Agate Hotel (white-blue-red building opposite the Sandy Beach Resort). The roof terrace offers a breath-taking 360-degree view of the sea and mountain in the distance.

We learned about this place when we were staying at the Royal Agate Hotel, which comes with breakfast at the Nest Rooftop.

Besides the spectacular view, the place has a laid-atmosphere. Fitted with recycled loungers, colourful throw pillows and bean bags, and even a play area for children, patrons can enjoy an evening of relaxing music and live entertainment as well as a decent selection of western cuisine, salads, mocktails and fruit juices.
