Whenever you miss Thai food, you don’t have to travel far to Thailand for one. Streat Thai in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya can offer you an authentic Thai food experience that you crave for.
Streat Thai was the idea of two brothers with a passion for Thai street food. Because of their emphasis on authentic Thai food, months were spent on recruiting cooks and baristas with different specialties in Thai street food from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pattaya, Bangkok and Hat Yai to man each stall. You’ll often find Thai customers here – a testament to the authenticity of Streat Thai’s tasty food.
Located at the corner on the Ground floor, Streat Thai could easily be spotted on your right as you are driving up the ramp towards the Jaya One valet parking or into The School car park. This casual, spacious and open-air restaurant is decorated with live street cooking stalls, a 113” high definition projector for football screenings and a stage for live bands to perform every Friday and Saturdays, between 7:30pm and 10:30pm.
Food is affordably priced. While pork is not in its menu, Streat Thai do not believe in substituting ingredients for the sake of being pork-free. For example, they omitted boat noodles from their menu because authentic boat noodles contain pork in the broth and is served with pig’s liver.
Streat Thai’s Braised Beef Noodles (RM11.90) is bowl of goodness with super tender slices of beef. The rich deep flavour of the broth is the result of being cooked for more than 10 hours. It was a really satisfying bowl.
If you are a fan of spicy food, Streat Thai Tom Yum Noodles Soup (RM15.90) is the one for you. I considered myself a big fiery food lover, but this Tom Yum Noodles is punishingly flaming because it was made according to the local Thai’s taste. I would advise you not to stir in all the chili paste into the soup if you want a comfy tummy. Otherwise, do add a little sugar from the set of condiments on the table.
According to Streat Thai, this Thai Style Steamed Chicken Rice (RM8.90) is one of their popular dishes. However, no surprises here as it tasted almost like the local steamed chicken rice from food courts.
